My stitched block from Anita Goodesign's "On Point Toile" quilt collection. |
I’ve been sewing since I was 10. Several years ago, my husband bought me a 6-needle embroidery machine that perked my interest in quilting. After using an Anita Goodesign quilt design to complete a quilt for my mother-in-law, I became interested in quilting without the embroidery machine. This started my quilting journey.
In 2021, I joined a couple of local quilt guilds and started immersing myself into the quilt world. Now I've added long-arm machining to my learning experience. I must admit that after using an embroidery machine and getting perfectly stitched pictures, the long arm has a little bit more of a learning curve; especially since I don't have the computer for it. It's all free motion. However, I do find such a joy in my completed products even when the circle is not exactly round, or my feathers vary.

My first free motion project using feathers. Quilt block is "Dream Big" by Hoffman Fabrics. |
I can be very critical of my work but am trying very hard to
give myself the opportunity to learn. For example, this panel was the first
panel I free-motioned feathers. It is not perfect; however, I'm using it as a
learning tool and plan to do another one in six-months to compare growth.
I'm excited to be able to share my successes and failures with you as a learning experience to help you in your quilting, sewing, or embroidery journey. I look forward to your involvement through comments and sharing of your experience as we journey together through this learning experience.
